British politician: Britain remains committed to nuclear deal - the iran project
واضح آرشیو وب فارسی:the iran project: IRNA – Tobias Ellwood, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Minister for the Middle East and Africa told IRNA that Britain has a clear position towards Iran and remains committed to the nuclear deal. In an interview with IRNA in London, the British politician said the nuclear deal is important for all and all countries should support it. The following is an excerpt of the interview: Q. What is Britain’s position towards JCPOA? A. Our policy hasn’t changed. We welcome the nuclear deal. We think this is a great opportunity for Iran to open up a new chapter with the international community and we hope all countries will continue to support that nuclear deal. We know that there is a new administration in America. Everybody is now adjusting themselves, but Britain is committed to work through the opportunities; we have frank conversations about the challenges that exist as well. I was delighted to visit Tehran only a couple of weeks ago and I had a very warm visit and we dealt with many of the opportunities of trade and development and that can be developed between our two countries. We have got some issues to continue working through; we want to ensure that the legacy of sanctions which are prohibiting or affecting banks to do businessto be resolved. The first delivery of the Airbus shows that trade can actually happen. We are also seeing greater parliamentary engagement. We had a delegation here yesterday to talk about visas. So its embarking on a welcoming direction. Q. Will the British government follow US hostile foreign policy towards JCPOA? A. We have our own policy and position. Our position is very clear: We think this is a fundamentally positive plan. I think it is good for all parties. Probably when all parties think they got a better deal, probabably they have the right deal. We want to work with all administrations, with UN as well, to say lets allow this to continue to be the foundation for further development. Q. What is your opinion about US recent sanction on Iran? A. I think our approach is that there is a UN committee that does the checking of this to see where things actually are; but we stand alone as our position and will wait and see what the committee says.
