Visiting Head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Publicity Department Liu Yunshan conferred on Saturday with Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hossein Saffar Harandi on expansion of cultural ties between the two countries.
Referring to the deep-rooted ties between the two countries along with ample of commonalties in different sectors between Iran and China and those at the international levels, he said that such relations could be turned into an exemplary model for other countries.
At the meeting, the two sides called for expansion of cultural cooperation between Tehran and Beijing.
The two countries could study new chapters to set up a new strategy to further deepen and bolster mutual cooperation, he said.
Recent visit by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to China during the paralympic games and his meetings with Chinese officials is now regarded as a turning point in expansion of relations between the two countries, he said.
Underlining the need to expand media cooperation between Iran and China, he said such mutual cooperation help reflect existing realities in both countries directly to world people, he said.
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) which is quite well-known in Asia and the globe could play a vital role to this end, said the minister.
Given to ample of potentials in both countries, he said that these capabilities could help further bolster and broaden cooperation in the cultural and arts fields between the two countries.
Iran and China could play an active role in various cultural arenas as cinema, theater, music, organizing book fairs, holding cultural week to facilitate exchange of experiences, he said.
The Chinese official, for his part, expressed satisfaction for visiting Iran and voiced his country"s extreme desire to broaden cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Implementing agreements signed earlier between the two countries could help deepen and broaden cooperation in line with the aims of Iran-China Cultural Commission, he said.
It is possible to upgrade current cultural cooperation between the two countries to a satisfactory level, he said.
